Facebook Addiction Becomes Problematic

Unbelievably melodramatic title for a reasonably harmless post. If your anything like what seems to be 99% your mates then Facebook addiction is becoming a real joy in your life. Anyway I thought I give the old Facebook badge a wingle (is that even a word?)

Global Warming, The Politics of Fear, Peak Oil

So heres a couple of things to watch, first the “Power of Nightmares” and then the second “The Great Global Warming Swindle”. Make your own mind up about what you see. For me these programmes have got me looking for answers to questions I didn’t know I should be asking. And above all reminded me that you should always maintain a healthy state of questioning and curiosity for the alternative arguments. You can be sure, if you don’t think for yourself, it will be done for you.

How about this for a theory on the current global warming media/g8/government frenzy…

Oil is running out (possibly), and Global Warming is being used as a vehicle to create change, e.g the offshoot of Global Warming scare tactics is to become more sustainable, and energy concious, (a good thing since both America and the UK consume an unsustainable amount of the earths resources) when really Global Warming caused buy human emissions is a myth (possibly!), peak oil is the real threat (possibly), and governments don’t really know what to do about the fact we are heading for global economic meltdown as we outgrow our energy demands and the planets available resources.

This of course would be far more scary and given that as a whole humans are a bit stupid would probably lead to stock piling of food and resources and all sorts buying behaviour that would create unsavoury economic conditions. Global Warming as a change vehicle gives governments a more civilised, managable reaction from the masses and also creates a multi billion pound “Green Industry”. Ultimatley if this hypothesis was a truth you would have to congratulate the powers that be for easing us into a new era of sustainable consumption. The problem is for me that when you delve into the debate about politics, global warming, oil resources, ctual clear cut balanced unbiased information is hard to come by.
