Surrrrrrprise!!!

So I hit my 30th not so long ago, (12 days ago to be precise) and alot of people had been dropping hints about how “ooh! you not gonna get away with that one quitely” and “are you having a party?” to which my main response was in a rather negative tone “nah! i’m not doing anything, i’d rather sweep it under the carpet” so horrified was I that I was gonna be 30, denial had definatly set in. I think the 30 “thing” started looming for me at about 25!!! and this “stressing” about my age has long since moved into folklore with my mates, with them constantly reminding me with utter glee that i’m almost 30 and nearly over the hill and other your past it clich?

Its time I had a rebrand me thinks

Thailand

So I just got back from Thailand for the second time this year. To say it was a little bit different to the last time I was there would be an understatment!

Unlike new years eve when I was there in High Season (perfect sun, flat seas) when we got there it was blowing a full on hoolie!! apparently it was the remenants of a Typhoon!! giving us only one choice…

Yep thats right HIT THE BARS!!!! So me Charles (Step Father) and Jim (Step Fathers Game Keeper) kind of set the tone for entire holiday on that first night, out till 3 or 4 in the morning up at the same time in the afternoon, then hoping and praying the weather would clear for our fishing trip.

Anyway (its all a little bit hazy now!) but about 3 days in we finally got our first call from our skipper Jon, which meant a 6 o’clock start after a 2am finish!! Amazingly we all made it to breakfast and got down to Chalong Bay, excited but a little fragile from the night before. Little did we know we’d be heading into 10 foot seas and catch only two little tiddlers. Luckily me and Jim were so knackerd we feel asleep and missed the worse of the swell.

It was somewhere at this point I was thinking the weather was going to be the bain of the holiday, but on the 5th night we went to Ratris (a favourite restaruant of ours up in the hillside over looking kata noi) and we could sense the weather was calming down. So we ate and drunk gin & tonics and white russians, listened to the fantastic Jazz band with the most amazing female singer and got ourselves ready to meet Jon in Patong.

I knew things were gonna be a bit different when we met Jon and he took us down a Patong side street saying, “Its cool i’m just down here in the local lady boy bar!!” erm warning alert where what!!!!

So me Charles an Jim tentivley walked into what can only be described as a Lady Boy Caberet, complete with beer blow jobbing crotch grabbing ladyboys. Jon was there with both his wife his maid and his daughter and looked on and laughed as we tried to avoid the advances the more forward ones. By the time we got out we were all laughing histericaly at Jim who had approached the stage (egged on by all of us) to kiss one of of them on the cheek only for him to turn around at the last moment and give him a smacker on the lips!!

I delighted in reminding Jim that “you got red on you” for the entire rest of the holiday!!

The next morning I awoke to the most perfect scene, out of my window the grey windswept watercolour of karon beach had been replace by a rich tropical day complete with blue skys blue seas and wait for it …. yes a solid 3ft swell.

So I necked some soft drinks from the mini bar to re-hydrate from the night before, grabbed my board shorts and rash vest hired a board for 200 baht (
