So then, it’s a bloody long time since I posted anything on here, mainly down to the fact that I have had no internet connection for just over 6 weeks, painful. I remember when the internet didn’t really occupy much of my time but now without it I feel utterly dissconnected without it.
Gigs
Anyways being back online is good but no where near as good as getting out playing Live! again. My band played its first gig the other day in Bideford, we went down well playing a set of rock covers. It was great to catch up with some old friends from back in the DFX days as Jon from Masdavalia (probably the wrong spelling) and his bassist were down, my old band mates from The Miscreants where there aswell as assorted family and friends came along to show there support. Check out the photos at the bottom.
Matriarchal Society
So I have noticed recently but blokes have become a laughing stock, in the medias’ eyes. I know women have fought hard for equality and I would consider myself a feminist, if thats possible. I believe in equality of the sexes. But it seems that alot of todays advertising casts the male as some dimwitted, feckless fool. Wether its advertising us crisps or polyfiller we are given the ahh isn’t he silly but slightly funny treatment.
I’m not offended by it, but it certainly seems indicative that sexual equality movement has swung a little too far for women. I think the vast majority of sexism (and that’s sexism directed at both female and male) comes from a broad array of genralisations that are most often completely wrong. You only have to take one look at the bbc sites recent study into the sexes to see that females and males can share all sorts of qualities, from the ability to be perceptive and emotional to being technical and calculating.
Really we are both the same in our needs and desires our egos and id’s and as far as i’m concerned we also both get corrupted by power and complacency…
