So then, I handed in my notice at work today!! pretty big deal for me, as I have worked at the The Ad Works now for just over 6 years and as scary as moving is, its essential. I think as a kind we creatives (and I spose everyone else) do place a premium on environment and when you find one your comfortable in its very hard to uproot that and move into scarier new ones!
The problem is when that comfortable environment stops challanging you, or makes you complacent, you run the risk of stagnating creatively, generally doing the same thing day after day. A death nail for your portfolio (if your a designer) and your personal growth
So after one false start ( I let the fear rule the first time I had the chance to leave! ) I’m off to a large creative agency called Bray Leino, were big multi-national brands look for new ways of communicating with their audience, or spin there web of lies depending on your opinion clients include BP, Bausch & Lomb, Volvo, The Wrigley Company Ltd and loads more. Although this is quite a scary thought i’m literally frothing to get onto some of this bigger stuff, becuase when it comes down to it I’m quite a show off and if I play my part in some National Ad Campaign or have a concept that survives thro to national TV I’ll be the first saying I worked on that lol!
I think the other thing that I’m looking forward to is absorbing the wealth of talent that seems to be over there, you name it from TV to Radio to Web Dev theres loads of people who have acres of experience in their fields, the scope for putting ideas in to practise is massive!
Anyway I will be sad to leave some of the people I work with and others I wont be so sad to leave, but I will remember all the highs and lows with that soft haze that makes all good memories seem like they happened in a the middle of some summer meadow!!
Onwards and upwards!!
